Frontiers in Viral Hepatitis Frontiers in Viral Hepatitis provides a compilation of the research from over 40 key opinion leaders in the field of Hepatitis. The book focuses on the latest advances in the search for new, more effective therapeutic options and related topics in viral hepatitis. These include regulatory issues, epidemiology, and emerging viruses; immunology and vaccines; viral hepatitis B and C infections in children; genetics pathology and viral diagnosis; cell systems and animal models; novel therapeutics for hepatitis B and C; resistance and therapeutic strategies in humans; and prevention and treatment options for hepatocellular carcinoma. The breadth of information published in this volume provides insight into current prevention and treatment options. Recent advances in our understanding of the molecular biology, immunology and pathogenesis of hepatitis viruses have accelerated at a remarkable rate, offering a more comprehensive perspective on hepatitis.
Hepatitis C by T. Jake Liang, The anticipated encore volume of the Biomedical Research Reports Series, Hepatitis C is the first book that offers comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of this "silent epidemic." The subject matter ranges from basic science to clinical medicine, with contributions from more than 30 international experts in the field. This important new book details the hepatitis C virus and the disease that it causes, including its prevalence, means of spread, symptoms, complications, natural history, prevention, and therapy. The editors, T. Jake Liang, M.D., and Jay H. Hoofnagle, M.D., are both hepatologists and clinical and laboratory researchers who are well known leaders in the hepatitis field. Their team of authors provide the latest information on key issues such as the role of hepatitis C in liver cancer and evolving therapy for hepatitis C, including special subgroups of patients such as children, patients with renal failure, patients undergoing liver transplantation, and patients with HIV coinfection. The book also addresses future directions in antiviral therapy of hepatitis C and the real challenges of developing a vaccine. Hepatitis C is "the" integrated reference book for all researchers, clinicians, and students dealing with this troubling virus.
Hepatitis D - Hepatitis D is a disease caused by a small circular RNA virus (Hepatitis delta virus or hepatitis D virus, HDV); this virus is replication defective and therefore cannot propagate in the absence of another virus. In humans, it only occurs in the presence of hepatitis B infection. Hepatitis F - Hepatitis F is a hypothetical virus linked to hepatitis. In 1994 Deka et al reported that novel viral particles had been discovered in the stool of post-transfusion, non-hepatitis A, non-hepatitis B, non-hepatitis C, non-hepatitis E patients. Hepatitis E - Hepatitis E is a hepatitis (acute disease, inflammation of liver) caused by a contagious virus called hepatitis E virus (acronym HEV). Hepatitis G - Hepatitis G is a form of hepatitis - liver inflammation - that has sometimes been attributed to GB virus C (GBV-C, sometimes referred to as hepatitis G virus or HGV). However, it is not yet clear whether GBV-C actually causes liver disease.
